Earlier this afternoon, I heard several helicopters fly over my house, and dozens of sirens wailing in the background. I checked the HFD Active Incidents page, and saw that there was a “Motor Vehicle Incident” in the area. I decided (since I had nothing better to do) that I would drive to the location and see what’s going on, since the incident occured just over 2 blocks from my house. Little did I know, this was much more than just a traffic incident.
According to what I overheard from the police officers who responded, as well as several people who were in the area when this occured, two men bumped each other and exchanged some words as they were trying to get off a Houston METRO bus. One man shot the other in the chest — the man died immediately, and almost fell out of the bus. After that, some passengers supposedly rushed the shooter, and were able to apprehend and hold him until the police showed up.
None of this is confirmed information, so you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt.
Continue below for pictures.

The scene of the crime. If you look at the larger version, you can see the victim’s feet hanging out of the door.

The victim, zoomed in. It looks like there was a tarp placed around him for some reason — it doesn’t look like he fell and landed that way.

Traffic starts to build up as people begin to slow down. Several lanes are being blocked by police cars, ambulances, and fire engines.

The suspect was captured immediately. Pictured above is the HPD cruiser he sat in while I was there.

Investigators start to show up and check out the scene. You can see HPD’s “Crime Scene Unit” Ford Expedition in the background, although the markings are blocked in this image.

The suspected shooter is brought out of the car for several minutes.

Another shot of the suspected shooter.
I grabbed several other pictures as well; you can check them out here. The lady standing by the camera in some pictures looked very much like a reporter on one of the local TV stations — perhaps Channel 2? I tried to get some pictures of her but she kept turning around, and eventually walked away.
This is definitely not something we usually see here in West Houston. What a day.
